Skiing Day Two: Sunday Jan 8.
The team woke this morning, in varying degrees, around 6.30 to no overnight snow except for a very light 1cm dusting. But by 7.30am we had around 10 – 15cm of fresh at it continued heavily until mid- afternoon. Our teams were out early and found deep fresh untracked for most of the day.
Temperature was a chilly -10C to begin with, but warmed as the morning went on. Lunch meeting was at Hanozano. Team dried off and refreshed for another session in the afternoon. After onsens,
dinner was “out” and crew explored a variety of options, from SecoMart to Raku! No injuries or major weariness, but all will sleep very well this evening.
Special events included: Neil now managing a hamstring (but luggage has arrived), David B cracking a sooky because his goggles were fogged, Mark stealing the Spielberg award with his new camera – great footage will appear when editing has beencompleted, Boarder boys again went berserk finding steep and deep on every run, Craig T now celebrated for his impersonation of a midget on a board, Legends of Shinya was a great hit all afternoon as the super group did their best to track it out on their own – by 3.00pm there were no other skiers about!, lots of ridges were skied down into Hanozano quad chair without having to cross another track. Of and Jon P was voted “Best Ski Leader” for the second day in a row!!
In summary – great day, great snow, great powder, great skiing – Great fun.
