Traditionally the boys would always do the handiwork and the girls would do the sewing so they could be a good housewife for the young men. But now, just recently there has been some courses going out on offer for girls to learn about, and work on the construction sites. So, what do you think, ‘Should girls be allowed to work in the construction industry?’
Girls should at least have some of the same opportunities as boys have. Attenetion to detail is a very big thing while working in the construction industry, because if people take shortcuts while constructing something it could turn out to be a major disaster. Usually people think that girls have more ‘attention to detail’ then boys do.
Also people might say, girls shouldn’t work in this industry because if they break a nail they will winge and they might think that if they had to get to a job early in the morning they would probably think that they wouldn’t want to get up that early and then come home late at night. But just wait, if they were so worried about breaking a nail they wouln’t be working in the construction industry, so they obviously don’t care about that girly stuff.
On the other hand though, construction sites are dangerous work places. Most girls aren’t as strong as most boys and it can put other workers at risk. for example, if a boy asked a girl to help him lift something heavy the girl might drop it accidently and because all of the weight would be on the part that the boy was holding it could be to heavy and that could lead to the boy breaking his back.
Also, girls have babies and that means that they would need to take some time off to be with there baby and there wouldn’t be enough people at the construction site.
In conclusion, there is clearly two sides to this issue. So I believe that there should be poisitions for girls in the construction industry because it can sometimes be very difficult for workplaces to find more people to work for them if they are short of staff.

Holes is a story about a young boy called Stanley Yelnats the Third. This story has two parts to it, so when reading this book you have to remember two parts in your head. One day Stanley was walking along underneath an overpass when suddenly a pair of shoes fell on his head. So he started to run home with them to show his Dad who liked to invent things. Unluckily Stanley was caught by a policemen. Stanley was sent to Camp Green Lake for 18 months, where he had to dig one hole every day, that was five feet long and five feet deep.
Now, Stanley was bullied at school because he was large and didn’t have alot of money. Maybe this was because of the curse of his No Good, Dirty Rotten, Great, Great, Pig Stealing, Grandfather? Or maybe it was just palin bad luck?
The main characters in thye story were, Stanley Yelnats the Third, Zero – Hector Zeronie, The warden, Sam the Onion Man and Kate Barlow. Zero was my favourite character because he was determined to climg Big Thumb even if the pain was getting to him, and he was also eager to learn. I admire for those things aswell.
Some of the key events in holes were climbing Big Thumb, going to Camp Green Lake,Stanley being bullied at school & Stanley teaching Zero to read.
Lastly, I loved Holes and in my oponion it was probably the best book I have ever read. My favourite part of the book was when they were at Big Thumb and Zero was telling Stanley about Jaffy, his imaginary friend that was a Giraffe. I would recommend this book to young teenagers.

What would you do if your dog got badly injured? What would you do if it was bleeding to death? Well, this is what I would do, I would get a Donor Dog To help my dog. You might ask what exactly a Donor Dog does, well, I will tell you. A Donor Dog is a dog who helps other dogs that have been badly hurt and are losing alot of blood, the donor dogs will donate their blood to the injured dog.
Dogs have about 13 different blood groups, and cats only have 3 different types. Because these groups are not the same this means that dogs cannot donate their blood to cats and cats cannot donate their blood to dogs.
For an example of all of this, there was a dog called Mitzy and she was wandering around her house like any other normal dog and all of a sudden she came across a packet of rat poison that was spilt on the floor. So Mitzy ate some of the rat poison, and that coursed her to have avery sore tummy which got serious and Mitzy could have died. Luckily though another dog kindly donated it’s blood and gave it to Mitzy . That dog should be very proud of what he did to save Mitzy!
Dog blood can be keeptfor up to 2 weeks, so vets need more Donor Dogs, because the same dogs can’t keep giving blood because theyneed for themselves aswell.
This is a really brave thing for these dogs to be doing, so if you have a Donor Dog you should be very, very proud of it.

Only recently there has been a huge oil spill. Killing 11 workers. It started off as one little leak and is now very, very big. This terrible incident has been placed in the middle of the ocean, on the Gulf of Mexico. The reason why it has gone from, little to big is because, the oil has been sucked up the tube to0 quickly by all of the preasure. The fuel company, BP, are responsable for this major issue.
About 800,000 litres of oil is leaking out per day. If this keeps on happening it will endanger all of our beautiful wild life. Also local fisheries are closing down because of the oil spill. Fisherman cannot fish with all of this oil in our oceans. We really do need to do something about this oil spill.
Crued oil is a very valuable oil made out of photo plankton. This is how they make it into oil. When the Photo Plankton is in the ocean it is getting squashed more and more every day, which then it is gradually made into crued oil. As I said, Crued Oil is a very valuable oil, and fuel companies will go almost anywhere to get it.
There are huge rigs in the water that are designed to send down drills, thousands of km’s to find pockets of oil. Drilling rigs are ment to have equipment that stops the preasure from getting out of control, but with these leaks, it looks like they have failed.
This leak is really serious. It is also very dangerous for our environment. People are starting to wonder if this really, could be the worlds worst oil leak.

Boy Overboard is a book about Bibi and Jamal, who are brother and sister trying to get to Australia. Bibi and Jamal love to play soccer. At the start of the book Bibi and Jamal live in a poor country, Afganistan, with their Mum and Dad. In Afganistan only boys are allowed to go outside and girls have to stay inside, mainly, whenever girls do go outside they have to be with a boy and be wearing big heavy cloaks. This is according to the Taliban Rules. There were alo alot of land mines where Bibi and Jamal lived.
My favourite part of Boy Overboard was when Jamal was imagining all of the wonderful things that would be in Australia. For example, Jamal was excited about the government bringing him a cake on his birthday, Jamal was also excited about the fifty flavours of ice-cream at the supermarket.
I admire Jamal because he has a great imagination of Australia and he is very caring of his family, exspecially his sister Bibi and his other friends.
This book helped me to really understand how shocking it must be for the people in Afganistan today.
I thought this book was really good because it does show to you how lucky we are here in Australia. I would recommend this book to people that like reading stories about people fighting against the government to get to Australia.

Australian athletes, cricketers and netballers are worried and trying to decide whether to go to India for the Commonwealth Games, and in the cricketers case they’re worried about going to India for the IPL. As the security could be a problem.
Terrorist attacks and threats are very common in India. Lately there have been quite a few attacks. Earlier this week athletes were threatened not to attend the Commonwealth Games, just a few weeks ago there was a deadly terrorist attack at a crowded bakery. Now you can hopefully see why they’re nervous about going to India for their sporting events. Terrorists do this because they want to attract some attention and they want to shock people, so terrorists think, well, if I go to the Commonwealth Games there will be allot of people and I can shock them with a terrorist attack.
India is trying really hard with their security to make it stronger for when the athletes arrive. They will do this by getting more security in and training really hard to make sure no terrorist attacks are happening at the Commonwealth Games or at the IPL.
Finally this is what I think. I think if they get allot more Security Guards and they train everyday, then they should just go. If they dont go the Terrorists will think they’ve won because they have scared the athletes away.

Excitedly on Monday morning all of the year six students were waiting to board the bus and head of toWilsons Prom.
When we arrived at Wilsons Prom, The bus drivers explained to us how to put up our tents. Charlotte was sharing a tent with me and we both thought it would be a little bit difficult to put up our tent, gladly it wasnt that hard! The only problem with the tent was that there was a pole in the middle of it and when it was hot the pole would get really hot and so would the tent. Later on in the afternoon we had our dinner and got ready to climb Mount Oberon. It was a challenge but when we reached the top everyone was proud of themselves.
On the next day we went for another hike, to Squeaky Beach. No one had there bathers on so we just dipped our feet into the water. Suddenly a huge wave came and wet a few people including me, so we just continued getting more and more wet by jumping off a small rock. The only bad thing about getting wet is that on the way back some people got chaffing. When we arrived back at the campsite we had some morning tea and got ready to start our activities. Our first activitie was a bike ride and the shop. At the shop we had to buy a postcard and write a letter to our family, and then we went on a bike ride around Wilsons Prom Campsite. After the bike ride and the shop we went back and had lunch. After lunch we set off again to do another activitie, Canoeing. In the canoe it was one between two, so my partner was Grace. In the canoe we had to do races and I fell out once, we also had to fit all off our grade, 6D into one Canoe, we also fell out of that Canoe to because we were rocking it! That afternoon we went back to the campsite, had our showers, had our dinner and went on another walk. This time it had a little bit of a scary part to it. This walk was called Biddies Walk. There was a lady called Biddie and she lost all of her Children at Norman Bay Beach. So evryday she would walk up and down Norman Bay Beach calling for her lost children, the teachers had told us that sometimes at night you could hear Biddie calling for her lost Children. As we were walking along it gradually got darker and darker and people were getting a little bit shakey because of Biddies ghost, then all of a sudden two people leaped out from the bushes and grabbed Noah and took him somewhere. Know one new that he had gone until we had got onto the beach and the teachers were counting all of the Children to see if we had got every one, but Noah wasnt there. When we arrived back at the campsite Noah was in his tent laughing. The teachers then told us that it was just a trick and two teachers were the ones that grabbed Noah. So that was a bit scary!
Wednesday arrived and we were all a little bit tired after last nights episode. First up this morning was Orienteering. Mr Howard Jones was taking this. He first talked to us about Orienteering and how to do it, then we had to pair up and use a compass to direct ourselves to places. Secondly we had surfing! This was my favourite activitity. We started off doing exercises on the beach and then we were shown how to stand up and have the proper technique. Then we hit the water and started surfing. Every one stood up! Thirdly we went to the Ed Centre, at the Ed Centre we learnt how to tell an animal to its footprint and we made animal footprints aswell! That night we had Trivia Night. This is where we got into groups and we were asked questions. It was a really good night.
On Thursday we went for a hike to Lilly Pilly Gully. I hiked with Grace. After the last hike of the camp we went back to the campsite and got ready to do Beach Games! This was really fun! One of the games was beach flags but i didnt get into the finals. Our last activity was Boogie Boarding. That was fun aswell! That Night after our showers the teachers told us that there was going to be a thunderstorm. So we Charlotte and I had to race back to our tents and move all our things into the middle of our tent so every thing wouldnt get wet, luckily though, two nice girls, Chloe and Holly, had already moved our things into the middle of our tent. It kept bucketing down with rain and their was no real shelter. When we had dinner it was still pouring down with rain and we couldnt go up to get dinner so the teacheras had to bring it around to our tables. Finally the rain stopped and we went down to the beach and had our finals of beach flags. The next day we woke up and packed or things ready to leave. Everybody was really tired and we all needed a good srubb. On the way home in the bus in the bus I sat next to Frankie. When we arrived back at school we were all happy to see our Mums and Dads.
