Should women be allowed to work in the construction industry?

Published by under 6D,ChelsieP

Traditionally men do all the construction industry work but more recently there have been discussions about if women should be allowed to work in the construction industry.

Women should be allowed to work in the construction industry because they should have the same rights as boys, if boys are allowed to do what they want. Girls should too. Girls also generally have a better way of finishing things. So girls should be allowed to have the same rights as boys.

On the other hand construction sites are very dangerous so some people believe that there too dangerous for girls. The buildings also need a lot of strength to build. So generally girls are not as strong and the boss of the company might have to employ more people because girls are not as strong and it would take more of them to lift a heavy object. Also girls have babies so the boss will have to pay money to let them have a maternity leave. So maybe construction sites are not a good place for girls.

In conclusion there are clearly two sides and beliefs to this Issue. I believe that girls should have the same equal rights as boys and be allowed to work in the construction industry.

Holes book review

Published by under 6D,ChelsieP

The story Holes is about a boy named Stanley whose family has been cursed by a fortune teller hundreds of years ago. He is bullied at school for been overweight and always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time . When some shoes strangely fall from the sky, Stanley gets caught with them, and he is accused of stealing Clide Livingston shoes ( Clide Livingston is a famous baseball player ). He was proved guilty and had a choice to go to prison or Camp Green lake. He choose to go to Camp Green Lake because had had never been to camp before but it wasn’t what he expected. They had to dig holes each day, five feet deep and five feet wide. But the question is what are they digging for ?

The main charaters in the story are…

  • Stanley- a boy whose familys cursed.
  • Zero- a boy who was homeless before he came to Camp Green Lake.
  • The Warden- The owner of Camp Green Lake.
  • Kate Barlow- a woman who shows that people aren’t slaves and gets revenge on the people for killing her boyfriend Sam.

The characters in the story were reasonably credible because they faced some real life problems such as fights and rights against black people been slaves.

My favourite character was Kate Barlow because she showed that black people are equal to white people.

Some of the key events in the story are Stanley’s great great grandfather been cursed because if he wasn’t there would bo no story. I also enjoyed Zero runnning away from Camp Green Lake because otherwise the curse couldn’t be brocken

I loved this book. It showed how people used to treat black people like slaves and had agreat story line. My favourite part of the book when Stanley carried Zero up the mountain because he broke the curse.

The Commonwealth games are going to be held in october in India.

but some of the aussies are nervous to go not about winning or losing but about winning

but about their safety.

Recently terrorists have been threating that they are going to target the Commonwealth

Indian authorites have already promised huge security measures .

some cricketers think safety comes first but others just love the sport and are willing

 to take the risk.

Oil Spill

Published by under 6D,ChelsieP

Recently there has been an oil spill in the ocean near the Gulf of Mexico .It started as one big exolosion and could finish as the worst enviromental disaster America has faced.

Even after the explosion on the 22nd of april there is oil leaking into the ocean at 800,000 litres a day and the platform is distroyed so its very dificult to stop it people are trying there hardest to stop it  and people are very worried about this.

The type of oil is crude oil and it is very valuable. It is sometimes trapped more than a thousand metres below the surface and thats why they get oil rigs to get this. the company that operates this rig is BP and they were going deeper for it than they had ever gone and there was a lot of pressure on the rig when it exploded.

Boy Overboard

Published by under 6D,ChelsieP

Boy Overboard is a book about a boy called Jamal his younger sister Bibi and their parents fighting against the Taliban rule in Afghanistan to stay alive. they have been forced to leave their country when the government found out about the home school their mum ran. They are hoping to start a new life in Australia.

I think the Auther wrote this book to show to ou some of the terrible things that are happening in the world to day in a child friendly way. My favorite part of  the story was when Andrew told them about how wonderful Australia is. This book makes me want to take over the government in Afghanistan and make it a bettter place.

I think the book was written really well and proves how lucky we are in Australia.

Wilsons Prom camp

Published by under 6D,ChelsieP

All of the ninety-nine students were all ready to go to Wilsons Prom. After saying good-bye to families we set off to camp. Three and a half  hours later we arrived at Wilsons Prom determined to get off the bus and stretch our legs.

After setting up our tents we ate dinner and for some of us it was the first time washing our own dishes. Then we got ready to climb all the way up Mount Oberon. When we finally reached the top we ignored our aching legs and admired the view.

Waking up the next morning at 6:00a.m was another experiance and then having to do fitness for half an hour was a even bigger one. After breaky we went to our activities, my first activity was bike riding to the general store and then i went canoeing on Tidel River.  That night we did Bidies Walk which is a walk which has a scary story about it.  We had to listen to the trees to see if we could hear Biddie

On Wednesday first of all we went orenteering which i learnt a lot from. Next we went surfing which definitely was my highlight of the camp. I never thought i would love surfing but i really did! On wednesday night we had a trivia filled with lots of fun and games.

On Thursday we did beach games and bogie boarding i did well in flags and got into the finels and in the finals (which is the top two girls and boys of every class.) I came third. We also did a walk at Lilly Pilly Gully. That night there was a storm and some of the students tent was so wet they had to sleep in the bus!

On Friday we packed up and set off back to school and every body was very excited to see there  families.
