Year 6 Ourspace 2010

Traditionally the men would do the construction working and the girls would do the cooking and sewing. But now, more and more girls are starting to work on construction site’s. Usually you would think of sweaty discusting men working on construction sites. Now its the women getting down and dirty.

Girls should have the same opportunity’s as men. Attention to detail is a big thing when working in the constrution industry, because if people start taking short cuts and rushing everthing would be a disaster. Girls can do multi tasks witch mean’s they can do more things at once that boys can. 

On the other hand, construction sites are dangorous work places. Girls are not as strong as boys witch means that if you have women working and they cant lift something up then they wont get the job done and that would put other workers at risks.

In conclusion there are clearly to sides to the issue, I believe that girls should be allowed to work in the construction industry and there should be position’s for them. Girls should be able to work on construction sites becuase it can sometimes be difficult for workplaces to find more workers if they are need of staff

This BTN story is about a terrible oil rig that leaked in the gulf of mexico.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The oil spill leaked all over the ocean. They think it was the worst oil spill that had ever happened. It happened because the oil went to fast through the chube and exploded out onto the sea floor.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              This resulted disaster happened on april the 22nd and in 11 workers being killed. The oil rig was located in the gulf of mexico. 800,000 oil is spilling each day. This a tragic disaster. the slick is so large that it can be seen from the moon. the local fisheries have been shut down because off the oil spill. the oil spill can be prevented if they dont bring any more large mases of oil out into the ocean.

crued oil is very valuable it is made out of photo plankton this is how they make it into oil. when the photo planton is in the ocean it is getting squashed more and more every day, then it is gradually made into crued oil. the fuel compains will almost go anywere to get it.

there are huge rigs in the water that are designed to send down drills. they are ment to stop the presure from getting out of control. with these leakes they have failed. people are starting to wonder if this really could be the worlds worst oil leak.

Boy overboard is about jamal and bibi trying to escape afganistan. Will they be able to escape or will they have to face the crule taliban rules. I think that the Author wrote this book so that people would understand the terribe things they have to go through. I have learned that we are very luckyto live in Australia. What i want to remember about this book is that we should be grateful that we dont live in Afganistan. My favorite part of the book is when Jamal and Bibi find out that there mum and dad are alive and when Andrew tells them about all the yummy and fun things to do in Australia like there are 50 different types of ices creams and when jamal thought the Australian goverment brings a cake on your birthday and my other favorite part of the book is when the dad drives onto the soccer field in his taxi and saves the mum. This book makes me want to help the poor children and there familys because i feel very sorry for them.

The Commonwelth gamesare on in october to be set at India. Some Aussies are questioning or revuse to go gobecause there worried about there safety there were to recent terrorist attacks there not nervous about competing there nervous about the security

recently terrourists have been a threat. They think that terrourists are going to target the Commonwelth games ther are three masive international sporting avents to be taken place in India, which we will see some of Australia’s best cricketes netballers and athletes.

India is north west of Austraila in Asia and in the city of APrune just a few weeks ago there was a deadly tourist attack at a crowded bakery. In novemer 2008 attacks at luxury Hotels and popular tourist restrants in the country’s biggest city, Mumbai, killed 175 people including two Australians. terrourists do things to attract peoples attention. India is doing the best they can to make athletes safe. The cricketers say they’ll go if security is improved. We all hope that we have a safe and succsesful commonwelth games.

Our camp to Wilsons Prom was all set to be a great week. 99 kids in year six travelled on a bus for 3 and a half hours to Wilsons prom

As soon as the bus arrived at the camp sight we all jumped out of the stuffy bus. We set up our tents and then had dinner. After dinner we all set of to climb mount oberong. It was very succesful. Finally after a long 1 and a half hours we all reached the top. The view up the top was Amazing. The climb down was much easier than the climb up.  Luckely everybody made it back to the camp site.

The next morning was tuesday. We all woke up at 6:ooam for fitness. After fitness we all had breaky the cooks were lovley. After breaky we had a walk to skweeky beach.when we got back to the camp site we started our first activity. Our first activity was bike riding.In bike ridin we went to the shop and i bought lollies. the next activity was canoeing it was at tidal river and it was very fun. at night we went on a biddies walk i was a bit scared but it was fine. the next day was wednesday. We all woke up for fittness at 6:00 after fitness we had breaky. the fist activity for wednesday was orientiering with a compas. the second activity was surfing i thought surfing was the best thing. The last thing that day was the Ed centre.at it was very interesting. That night we  had trivia night. We had to answer all sorts of questions some were easy and some were hard. But we all had fun.

On thursday it was the last full day.  We woke up at 6:00 for fitness then we had breaky. After breaky at 10:30 we went on the Lilly Pilly gully walk. The first activity for the day was flags so we headed down for the beach. Flags was very fun i made it to the final. Insted of going back we staid at the beach and went boogie boarding. Boogie boarding was very fun. Later that day when we were back in dry warm clothes we wern’t exactly warm we were freezing because it was hammering down with rain.  all the tents were flooded exept for ours we were lucky. The teachers told us that they couldent run flags that night. That night we also had red faces. They still could run it under the tent and everyone was very good. We ended up running the flags competition i came fourth it was great.

the next morning was friday. There was  no rise and shine for fitness because we were going home that day. We packed our bags and when we got back to school we were all very excited to see our familys
