MT OBERON by Jessica Carter Our bags were packed, ready for the bus that was to take us to Wilsons Prom. Ninety-nine year sixes were about to go away for a week with tents for beds. After lunch on Tidal River, we set up our tents. The first challenge had come. After dinner, all year sixes made to the top of Mt. Oberon. When everyone was up there, we were blown away by the breath-taking view. In the morning we went on a run on the beach. Afterwards, we had a mud fight and then went canoeing. we all got in the boat and halfway across the river, we capsized!!! After dinner, Lilly Pilly Gully was our destination. The walk across was beautiful with flowers and animals of all different sorts.then we went to sleep. Next morning, Orienteering was our first activity, and after was my favourite activity, surfing. Although the waves weren’t huge, at was really exhilerating. Next, we made fossils in the education centre. When dinner had come and gone, off to Biddi’s Walk we went. The walk was even more interesting with the fascinating story to go with it. When we got back, to sleep we went. Thursday moning had finally come. beach games and warm ups awaited us at 6:45 in the morning. after breakfast, beach flags and games were really fun to play. next, we had boogie boarding. Although it was freezing, it was entertaining. After dinner, pouring rain greeted us while red faces was going on. My group did survivour whith a twist.. that night Frankie, Annie and my tent was flooded so we slept with eight other girls in the teachers caravan, kicking the teaches out to go sleep some where else. In the morning, Annie, Amy and I helped pack up the boy’s tents, and we took down our own, too. we stopped at the same place as when we were coming for morning tea, and then went back home. it was a bit chaotic at school, but in the end it all worked out. I am sure that we all got a bit spoilt and got a HUGE hug and kiss from mum and dad!!! I truly enjoyed it very much, and it was probably the best camp ever! But I was also really happy to go home.
