As part of our unit of study on Echuca, you will be making a model of an item of interest that you saw during the three days. The model should represent the original structure in shape, and demonstrate some of its features. Making the model will involve the following steps:
PREPARE Your plan will include a list of all the materials and equipment you will need, and a diagram of what you think your complete model will look like. (Be realistic about which can be achieved!)
PLAN (To be completed at school) Write a procedure that explains the steps you will take to make your model.
CONSTRUCT Follow the procedure you have written to make your model. The model is to be constructed at school during two art periods – 2 ½ hours total.
EVALUATE Write a description of how closely you followed your plan, describing any changes. After listening tor feedback from others, identify ways in which the model might be improved. Describe what you think are the strengths and weaknesses of your model.
Ideas for a model:
- paddle steamer
- Echuca wharf
- dairy cow
- house boat
- Australian animal fromKyabramFaunaPark
- relief map of thePortofEchuca/KyabramFaunaPark/ The Murray River
Considerations:
- Availability of materials
- Suitability of resources
- Time frame (Must be constructed in two periods – a double and a single – 2 ½ hours in total)

Love the blog Christen, we are starting to get back into the swing of homework and regular reading at our house. In particular, we would like to have out loud reading and also some time for silent reading every night.
I agree. While it is important to be able to read out loud, many children possibly comprehend better when they are reading silently, because they don’t have to worry about how they sound.
To be honest I’ve just started using this wonderful pages. The homework page is particularly great resource for parents, as Chika’s never brought a list of spelling words to me before. I can now test her out when she comes back home! Also I enjoyed reading Chika’s writing in the individual students’ page. Thanks, Christen.
