Is Fame Worth It???

We all know that every childs dream is fame, but do us normal people really know what it’s like? What about all the paparazzi? That dream might not turn out how you want it to. Evidence has suggested that it might turn out to be a nightmare.

Firstly, the loss of privacy is a major problem in the city of fame. Celebraties are being able to walk out their front doors without being seen less and less. But celebraties don’t only have to look out for just paparazzi, they also have to look out for fans with mobile phones as well.

Secondly, celebraties need to be good role models and their figure and appearances have to be perfect. Everywhere they go, they’re being watched so even if they have the slightest muffin top, it will be all over the media. The biggest role models are footy players because they play the biggest sport that 100′s of 1000′s of people watch every day. With all the pressure on them, they get dragged down into drinking loads of alcohol and having loads of drugs.

In conclusion, celebraties need to be perfect in every way of their life, otherwhys they will get dragged down into the bad books of the public.

Holes Book Review

Stanley Yelnats, a young boy, overweight and bullied by Derrick Dunne – a boy at his school. His dad an inventor trying to find a cure for smelly shoes.

Stanley was always finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time because of his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. 100 years before Stanley was born, Madame Zeroni put a curse on Elya Yelnats – Stanley’s great great grandfather – for stealing her pig and not carrying her up the mountain which was the deal they made for Madame Zeroni’s help to Elya Yelnats. So the curse took place through the generations in the Yelnats family.

When Stanley – once again – foung himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, Clyde Livingstone’s fell from a bridge while he was walking home from school. He put them on and ran home to take the shoes to his dad for his new project, not knowing that they were Clyde Livingstone’s.

He was accused of stealing the shoes and had a choice of going to Camp Green Lake or Prison. He couldn’t think of jail so he chose Camp Green Lake.

At Camp Green Lake, Stanley had to dig a hole every day, measuring fft in every direction. He made new friends named Squid, X-Ray, Armpit, Zero and Twitch. He was surprised after a while when they gave him a nickname just like them, which meant he was accepted into the group. But Twitch wasn’t at Camp Green Lake until Zero had had enough of all the others bullying him and thinking he was stupid and ran away. Stanley knew better of himself than to just leave Zero starve out in the wide desert area because he had grown a close relationship with Zero.

After a long, hard and tiring search, Stanley eventually found Zero under the ruins of an old boat eating what he called Sploosh – spiced peaches. They ventured out together clmbing up mountains, while every now and then Zero would clutch his stomach because of pains from not eating the right food. When Zero eventually collapsed, Stanley carried him up the rest of the mountain, not knowing that he was breaking the curse put on his family because Zero was actually Hector Zeroni, Madame Zeroni’s great great grandson.

So after finding refuge on God’s Thumb, Zero confessed that he was the one who stole Clyde Livingstones shoes.

When Stanley and Zero arrived back at camp in the dead of the night, he and Zero found the treasure that the Warden was actually after and in the hole that they dug, was a nest of Yellow Spotted Lizards, that if they bite you, you will die no matter what. But because they ate so many onions – which the lizards don’t like – in the mountains the lizards didn’t bite. They both managed to get out of the hole and soon after, found out that Stanley had a lawyer who had got him out of Camp Green Lake. She asked for Zero’s files and the Warden deleted them soon before so she took Zero with her as awell. Stanley got home with Zero safely and lived a happy life ever after.

While reading connection after connection, Holes is a mind ravelling book full of adventure and drama. I would highly recomend it to anyone who is an adventureholic.

Market Day

For Market Day, Zara, Claudia, Chloe and I had a stall called CIZC which stands for our names. We sold Tie Dye Singlets, Stress Balls and had a guessing game. During the process, I have learnt about target marketing, money, customer service and running a business.

On the day we sold out of Stress Balls and Tie Dye Singlets and even had more orders for singlets.

If we had the opportunity to do it again I would consider making more stock.

It was an educational experience and I enjoyed it lots and lots!!!!

Wilsons Promontory Camp

This was all set to be the highlight of the year. The year 6 camp at Wilsons Promontory was on Monday last week. About 100 Year 6 students along with other teachers and helpers all travelled on the 2 buses down to Wilsons Prom.

Along the way we stopped at Leongatha for morning tea. There, we played on the playground.

We finally drove through the entry of Wilsons Prom, all excited about it. On the way we stopped at Tidal River for lunch until the camp site was ready for us to set up our tents. When they were ready for us, we walked down to the camp site awaiting tent demonstrations.

After about and hour of hard work, about 100 students were ready for a big dinner. Once we gobbled up as much as we could, we started the biggest climb we’d ever done.

The next day began at an early 6am, with a bit of fitness. After eating a yummy breakfast we took a walk along Squeaky Beach. After that we started our rotations. 6d began with Surfing and then rotated over to bikeriding and shop. After a big dinner, some of the year 6′s played Stelth while the others took a walk along Biddies Walk.

The next day was a bigone filled with: Abseiling and Canoeing, Boogieboarding and a Trivia Night.During the Trivia Night I discovered that Aerogaurd does not work, because i got many, many mosquitoe bites.

Day four of the camp was my favourite, because we had electives. Along with Claudia W, I chose to do Beach Cricket (we were the only girls) and Orienteering. which was my favourite. After dinner, we had the beach flag finals which had  been decided during the day at the lifesaving activities.

The next day after lots of rain during the night, we packed up our tents and got ready to head off home. After a big trip, we arrived back home with our parents awaiting us.

My overall decision about the camp is that it was great  and I would recommend it any time.
